Research interest:

We are interested in the purification, identification and functional characterization of novel SUMO target proteins. In contrast to the single SUMO found in lower eukaryotes, vertebrates express three SUMO family members, SUMO-1, SUMO-2 and SUMO-3. SUMO-2 and SUMO-3 are nearly identical, but differ substantially from SUMO-1. Using SILAC technology, we have recently shown that extensive crosstalk occurs between SUMO-2/3 conjugation and the ubiquitin-proteasome system.
