Research interest:

Development of higher eukaryotes is directed by conserved signalling pathways, which regulate gene expression. We are interested on the role of the SALL family of transcription factors, particularly on their mechanism of action during transcriptional repression, more specifically on the modulation of SALL function by sumoylation. Development is also hormonally regulated. We discovered that sumoylation is crucial for steroid hormone synthesis and cholesterol capture into steroidogenic cells. We are currently investigating the roles of sumoylation in steroidogenesis.
